Spring 24 - Week 1
Hi all, I am happy for the start of a new semester and to be back for another semester in the TRAIN program. This semester I will continue to work with Dr. Posta and the rest of the team on the sports data analytics research we began in the fall. Besides collecting data, last semester we played around with various models to predict the outcome of soccer matches with our main parameter being different implementations of a team's expected goals (xG). This semester we are planning to build more complex models that try to account for travel-related factors in their predictions. Hopefully, these refinements to our models will translate to more accurate predictions. Steven
